Temple Baptist Church - Established 1950
Temple Baptist Church was founded in 1950 out of Wichita Baptist Tabernacle by Bro. Clyde Billingsly. With a desire to see solid, Independent Baptist churches throughout the city of Wichita, Dr. Art Wilson lead Bro. Billingsly to plant Temple Baptist Church on South Ash St, in Wichita Ks. After remaining as Pastor of Temple Baptist Church for 9 years, Bro. Billingsly was lead by God to plant an Independent Baptist Church in Derby, Ks. Over the course of the following years, another man of God was called to Pastor Temple Baptist Church, Bro. Willard Neumann. Under the leadership of Bro. Neumann, Temple Baptist Church began to grow in numbers as souls were saved. In 1974, Temple Baptist Church moved from South Ash St, to it's present location on Maple St. Bro. Neumann pastored for 35 years until the Lord called him home in 2001. On July 25, 2001, the members of Temple Baptist Church called Con R. Howerton as Pastor. God has continued to greatly bless Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Howerton. Many souls have been saved, lives have been changed by the power of God, and new ministries have been started. As members of Temple Baptist Church, we are so excited to see how God has blessed and is continuing to bless our church as we begin to celebrate our 60th Anniversary!
Join us this Sunday - Friday (August 1-6, 2010) as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary with a good old fashioned Preaching Revival. Bro.
